GUZZI PIER ENRICO

Pier Enrico Guzzi was born in Savigliano (Cuneo). He started his studies in Piedmont and only after high school, he moved to Rome to study scenography. Since 1970 he splits his time between the scenography and painting. In 1971 he decided to dedicate himself exclusively to art and began exhibiting in Italy and abroad. He attended art classes on the Middle ages and early Renaissance, focusing on studying the fresco technique of Piero della Francesca. As a result of a deep study on the fresco that he develops its own technique.

Guzzi invented this unique technique which consists in preparing a surface similar to the wall on a wooden board by using lime and plaster.

The following step is to spread over colored mineral pigments and oil, which must dry and overlap in multiple layers.

This technique gives an exceptional three-dimension and depth to the painting.

If for the technique it is necessary to look back at the Old Masters in the past, his style is considered surrealist.

He died in 2018.
