Fortunato Stasi was born in Genoa in 1913.He began to study painting and graphic art when he was very young.Instinctive and versatile he belonged to the romantic trend of other painters such as Mario Canepa, Riccardo Pavero and Biagio Biasi.

They focused on painting “en plein air”, like the French Impressionists.

What did the art critics say about him?

“His chromatic research is attentive and what can look like a work made by impetus is, on the contrary, the result of a slow and long reflection. He obtains a perfect chromatic harmony through the use of different layers of colour; a green is made on a base of yellow and a second layer of blue. Quietness and peace are always present in his precious work”.
