Paola Campanella was born in Genoa in 1930, where she lives and works.
She experimented with several artistic forms through the use of different materials and focused on painting in the 1960s.
She had been working for some years in the design and advertising business to refine her technique and from 1975 she decided to devote herself entirely to painting.
Paola Campanella is fascinated by the work of Magritte and by photorealism.
Domestic objects, tables, tablecloths, doors and their shadows are the preferred themes of her paintings.
The net lines of the tablecloths, the design of the embroideries and the contrast of the smooth greys and whites create an “optical deceit” on the canvas.
Her technique, characterised by mono-chromatic brushstrokes shows a metaphysical view of the world through the representation of everyday life objects.
Her works are to be found in the main private collections in Italy and abroad.
