Baratta Luigi

Gino Baratta was born in Turin in 1951. He graduated in Medicine in 1977, but then devoted himself entirely to painting and held his first important exhibition in 1990. Baratta is a Realist, a type of art which attempts to reproduce the world around us accurately. The term “realism” originated in 19th century and was used to describe the work of Gustave Courbet and a group of painters who rejected idealization, focusing instead on everyday life. Baratta paints still life, urban scenes, post industrial buildings and wishes simply to capture the essence of objects and scenes. He concentrates on the effect of light, taking inspiration from some Flemish artists like Vermeer and Rembrandt, whereas the deep perspective in his work reflects the influence of Renaissance.
